OUR PROCESS

Santa Maria® Virgin Coconut Oil is produced through A No Heat (ANH) method, Cold Processed and RAW. ANH virgin coconut oil allows the retention of monoglycerides and other natural anti-oxidants such as tocopherol (vitamin E), vitamin A and C which serves as natural preservatives. Enzyme remains intact to easily break down food, easing digestion and enhancing nutrient absorption. Heating will destroy these substances leaving only some acids to work alone rather than in conjunction with these micro-nutrients..

Certified Organic

Our 100% all-natural authentic virgin coconut oil is made from only quality hand-picked, fresh and mature Philippine coconuts. Harvesting from about 150 hectares of organic plantation from provinces in Luzon, where we use organic practices to ensure that our products are free of synthetic inputs, preserve bio diversified farms and practice fair trade. Part of our mission is to educate and assist our farmers and communities on the latest organic practices. Our culture is built upon a deep reverence and love for the environment beyond our farms.

ANH, Cold Processed

While many Virgin Coconut Oils found in the market claim to be cold pressed, the oil you buy may have been heated after extraction to hasten the lowering of the moisture content. Our oil is produced via Cold Process and A No-Heat (ANH) processes. We don’t use direct heat to lower the moisture level of the oil after the coconut meat is pressed, and it is kept below human body temperature at all times during manufacture and storage. This preserves monoglycerides and other natural anti-oxidants which serve as natural preservatives. Heating will destroy these substances leaving only the lauric acid to work alone rather than in conjunction with these micro-nutrients.

Glass Packaging

Because plastic packaging might leach chemicals and erode the oil, we make the extra effort and care of packaging most variants of our Virgin Coconut Oil in glass bottles and jars. The non-porous surface of glass also prevents odour and germs. From an environmental standpoint, we do our part in helping to limit the production and dis- posal of plastics which releases toxic chemicals into the air. Our glass containers can also be safely recycled for many other purposes after the product is consumed.
